FAQ

About DevCol

What is DevCol?

DevCol is short for "development collaboration." It's an indie game project built in Unreal Engine by one developer, with progress shared in the DevLog as it happens. This site is where I keep the record of it: what I build, what breaks, and what I learn from fixing it. There's more on the About page.

Who makes it?

One person makes the games and runs the site. Some of the projects and parts of this site were made with Claude's help, and the pages say so where it applies. The Tools (AI-Assisted) projects are marked that way, and the devcol.net project page explains how this site was built.

What are you working on now?

Tumble Teams, a multiplayer game in Unreal Engine 5. The DevLog posts so far cover a server-authoritative chat plugin, health and stamina built on Unreal's Gameplay Ability System, and hit detection for melee attacks. You can find them all on the Tumble Teams DevLog page.

When is it releasing?

There's no release date yet. The game is still early. Progress updates go in the DevLog and on Discord.

The games

What can I play right now?

Two Unity games are released on Google Play: Press Plane and Rock Paper Scissors - Advance. Both also run in the browser on their project pages, and on itch.io.

Should I play on my phone or in the browser?

On a phone, use the Android app. The browser versions are meant for trying a game from a computer, and the Rock Paper Scissors web build doesn't run well in mobile browsers.

Is the code public?

Some of it. Press Plane, Rock Paper Scissors - Advance, NewsBriefing, and this site have repositories on GitHub under devcol-main, and each project page links to its own. Check a repository's license before reusing its code.

The site

What are the DevLog, Projects, and Study sections?

The DevLog has progress notes and debugging write-ups from Tumble Teams, including the mistakes. Projects collects the games, prototypes, and small tools I've finished. Study holds shorter notes on Unreal Engine, C++, and tools that I wanted to remember.

Does the site collect data or show ads?

You don't need an account, and the site doesn't ask for personal information to read it. Like most websites, it may use cookies through third-party services such as Google AdSense. The Privacy Policy has the details, including how to opt out of personalized ads.

Is there a Korean version?

Not yet. The site is in English, and a Korean version is planned for later.

Getting in touch

Where can I give feedback or report a bug?

On the Discord. It's the fastest way to reach me. The Contact page lists the other ways, including email.

How do I get in touch about press or business?

By email. The address is on the Contact page.

Where can I follow what you're building?

The DevLog is the main record. You can also find DevCol on Discord, X, YouTube, itch.io, and GitHub.
